**Material** A5052 (a5052) **Processing** Machining center **Features** We have established a continuous drilling technology for extremely small diameter holes of φ5μ at 30 locations. It penetrates material A5052 with a thickness of 20μ. (This has also been successful with A7075 material.) Developing from a hole diameter of φ8μ to φ5μ took 8 months due to the mere 3μ wall. The hole tolerance achieved is approximately ±0.2μ. It is possible for thicknesses up to 30μ. This technology is mainly applied in the medical, bio-related, and aerospace industries. For extremely small diameter hole processing between φ8μ and φ30μ, an aspect ratio of over 10 times is also possible. Furthermore, we distinguish our processing techniques as follows: extremely small diameter hole processing for holes below φ30μ, small diameter hole processing for holes between φ30μ and φ100μ, and small hole processing for holes over φ100μ.
